ZŌEN T-SHIRT CHALLENGE GUIDELINES

Eligibility/Entry

There is no entry fee to submit a design. All entrants must be signed up on the Jerne software. No purchases are necessary.  Only five (5) design submissions per person are allowed. If you are under the age of 18, your design must be submitted by a parent or guardian on your behalf.  

 

Rules and Guidelines

  1. This contest is open to all Jerne account holders. To sign up for free, go to www.jerne.io.

  2.  All designs must be original creations of the contestant, and incorporate all of the required design components outlined below and encompassing the Jerne software and its purpose.

  3. Submissions must not have been previously published and must not contain profanity, trademarks, other organizations' logos, or any copyrighted works of any other person or business.

  4. Design(s) must be submitted in .pdf format, on the T-Shirt Challenge website via the submission form by 11:59 pm (ET) on August 1, 2025.

    1. Designs must be created in either Adobe (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Canva, or CorelDRAW.

  5. Winning designer agrees to sign a waiver to allow Zoen, LLC, the use of their design, free of charge, for any and all printing and promotional purposes.

  6. Contest winner must agree to submit a high-resolution layered vector art file within 7 days of notification and agree to work with Zoen's printer if slight changes/modifications are necessary for production. If not, an alternate winner may be chosen to meet Zoen's production deadlines.

  7. All entrants must register by accessing the registration form on the Zoen website.

Required Design Components

The winning design will be placed on the front of the limited edition Jerne t-shirt. (Please note: all t-shirts will be white or black, subject to change.) 

  1. The theme of the design must include at least one element or idea related to the Jerne messaging:  "digital incubator for creative visions."

  2. The Jerne primary or secondary logo must be used in the design.

  3. Although the front of the design is primary, you may also use the back of the T-Shirt in your overall design plan. The T-shirt is intended for all ages.

  4. Colors: Based on the winning design, it may be printed on a white or black or red t-shirt. Design can use up to four (4) of the following approved colors. 

    • White: #000, #0E0E10, #E71010, and #FFF

    • Black: #FFF, #F8B3B3, and #18EFEF

  5. Typefaces: Only the following font families are to be used in t-shirt design.

    • Gill Sans Regular

    • Gill Sans Condensed Regular

    • Gill Sans Italic

    • Gill Sans Light

    • Gill Sans Light Italic

    • Gill Sans Medium Italic

    • Gill Sans Bold

    • Gill Sans Condensed Bold

    • Gill Sans Bold Italic

    • Gill Sans Heavy

    • Gill Sans Heavy Italic

  6. Design Software: Designs must be created in either Adobe (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Canva, or CorelDRAW.

    1. Designs created using t-shirt design websites like Bonfire, CafePress, and Zazzle will NOT be accepted.

How Winner is Selected

  1. Entries will be evaluated by an independent internal panel of judges and will be reviewed for:

    • Creativity

      • Concept and originality of design

      • Creativity in the use of Jerne branding elements

      • Incorporates the concept of a journey

      • Successfully capturing the spirit of and the purpose of Jerne

    • Technical

      • Visibility from a reasonable distance

      • Adherence to design and submission rules and guidelines

      • Adherence to Jerne branding guidelines, including logo usage, colors, and typefaces

      • Totality of design and production readiness

    • Winners will be announced 2-3 weeks after the close of the submission form for the challenge.

    • Winner prizes will be distributed 3-6 weeks after the close of the submission form for the challenge.

    • Winners must claim prizes within seven (7) days of the notification send date. All notifications will be by email, using the email provided during registration.

Prizes

  • The three top winners will receive a free Jerne board on the Jerne.io software.

  • The top winner chosen for print on the limited edition Jerne T-shirt will receive a $200 monetary prize, and a Jerne swag bag, including a limited edition t-shirt, sticker, and pin. In addition to the Jerne swag bag, the winner will receive a free registration to Zoen's Axiss 2025 event.

 

Fine Print

Publicity and Agreement: Contest entry constitutes an agreement by the submitting designers to grant a free license of all copyrights of the submitted works to Zoen in perpetuity, for publicity and promotional purposes. The top 3 finalists will be subject to approval by Zoen.

Media Release: By submitting artwork, you agree that if your design wins, Zoen retains first printing rights and a free license, in perpetuity, to utilize the design on t-shirts and other promotional items, marketing, fundraising, and public relations materials. You are guaranteeing that your design does not contain any copyrighted material, including images/copy found on the internet, unless clearly marked as published under a Creative Commons (cc) license. Contest entrants who are not selected as the winning designer(s) retain all rights to their artwork.
